Vice Chair and Somerset Councillor

Cllr John Hunt

Name: John Hunt

Where are you likely to be seen in the village: I’m always out and about, either attending or helping to organise village events and regularly meeting up with local residents to discuss their issues of concern. You’ll generally find me where Tea and Cake are being served, lol.

Why are you a Parish Councillor: I became a councillor in 2015, to make a difference to the lives of those living in our wonderful village. Now, as a Somerset Unitary Councillor, being on the Parish Council enables me to work closely with my fellow councillors, meaning that together, we can achieve much more for those we all represent.

When not volunteering as a Parish Councillor what are you likely to be doing: Since being elected to Somerset County Council in 2017, the majority of my time is spent carrying out my duties, more or less 7-days a week. I’m lucky, for me it’s a vocation, which means I really love what do.

I’m also a BH School Governor, a Trustee of the Playing Field Trust, President of the Taunton Thespians and a director of the Taunton Flower Show.

I do take time out for Tennis, Bowling, Dancing (no, really!) and walking. However, my greatest pleasure is socialising, thankfully, I get to do lots of that.

What would people be surprised to know about you: In 2011, I appeared several times on ITVs Loose Women, including a televised lunch on the Orient Express with the lovely Sherrie Hewson.
